March 17, 2020 – Coronavirus Response Update
Greetings,
Be Prayerful, Be Careful, Be Courageous
After careful consideration of all the information available, discussions with other churches’ leaders, and recommendations from national, state and local governments, we have suspended our services on-site for the foreseeable future. Instead, we will join together online for a time of worship. Services will be available to stream at 9:30 am, 11:00 am, or 5:00 pm or on demand afterward. This service will still include worship and message and will give us an opportunity to gather, just in a different way. You should plan to prepare your own emblems to be used during communion.
To access this service, please go to www.academychristian.org/northside/live to watch the service.
There are three practices that I would encourage you to implement during this unusual season:
1) Be prayerful
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
I can’t think of a better antidote to the uncertainty of this current situation we find ourselves in than to keep ourselves in front of our sovereign God so that we remember that no matter what happens, He is still in charge and will guide and provide for His people.
2) Be careful
The wisdom of the prudent is to give thought to their ways. Proverbs 14:8a
The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty. Proverbs 22:3
We need to be wise and take all necessary cautions to protect ourselves and the ones we love.
3) Be courageous
For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it. Luke 9:24
God’s people have often been identified as those who do not run away from challenges but instead move boldly toward them. We will all have opportunities to step up and serve and give and love in these next few weeks in ways that should take the world by surprise because we will not just be thinking about ourselves but others as well.
* Please note – We hope to be able to resume normal activities and practices at the earliest time safely possible. To that end we will be monitoring developments along with governmental guidance so we can inform and prepare our church family for a return to normal activities as soon as possible.
Blessings,
Bryan Myers
