Worship at Academy Christian Church

At ACC we have four services for the opportunity to come together at the throne of God.  Worship at Academy Christian Church isn’t just an opener for a sermon, it is the essential element in creating opportunities for encounters with God.  And it is awesome!  Our members love worshiping together in all shapes and styles.  As a growing church, we have three services consisting of one traditional and two contemporary experiences.  Even though the style changes, the purpose and message stays the same: Glorify God.

Traditional Service

All you early risers are welcome at our 8:00am service for worship that is led by piano, string and woodwind instrumentation.  When we sing “Early in the morning my song shall rise to thee,” we mean it.  That beautiful hymn, along with many others, serves as the primary song selection for this service.  Traditional worship isn’t for the timid, it’s for those who love to sing loud and strong.  Need more convincing?  Our ACC Adult Choir ministers through a special vocal arrangement and we are always looking for new voices and instrumentalists to join in!

Contemporary Service

Beginning at our 9:30 a.m, service, our Contemporary Praise Band steps up to the plate.  Both acoustic and electric guitars drive the melody as drums and bass lock in the style. We are a full band experience and clapping along is strongly encouraged!  In addition to the occasional updated hymn, these services throw down the stylings of Chris Tomlin, Hillsong, Desperation, Paul Baloche, and more!  We’d love to have musicians of both the classical and modern persuasion jump in.  Like the traditional service, our contemporary praise band gets an assist once a month by the Worship Choir.  No choir experience, no problem!  If you love to worship, we’d love to sing with you.

Of course, none of this would be possible without all those who work best behind the scenes.  Our amazing and at times awe-inspiring Audio/Video/Lighting crew backs everyone up with all the technical support necessary for each service.  Their work doesn’t stop with the music.  They are also responsible for the technical support of sermons, baptisms, and other elements of each service.  Are you an AVL geek?  You’ve got family here.

Our mission for each service remains the same: to glorify God.  Worship is only the beginning; it is a privilege to gather together and worship as one body before the throne of the Living God.  We are not performers, although we strive for excellence.  We do not simply play music, we offer a sacrifice of praise.  As the psalmist wrote, “Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!” (Psalm 95:2 ESV).
