Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is Academy Christian Church?

We are a non-denominational Christian church that welcomes people from all ages and backgrounds. We believe the Bible is our ultimate authority for faith and practice here. We want to help people encounter God so they can experience Him today and forever.

What is a nondenominational church?

A church not affiliated with a particular religious denomination. For Academy Christian Church, this means no denominational doctrine or rules. This means that ACC is interested in connecting you directly with Jesus, studying the Bible and following its teachings, and having members who serve one another and the Colorado Springs community.

Are all the services the same?

We have three service times on Sunday at our Northside location, and one service time at our Westside location. Our Northside 8:00 am service features Traditional style worship with hymns and a choir. All of our other services are Contemporary style worship with a praise band and contemporary music. Each service includes the same message from the Bible to encourage and challenge us throughout the week. Nursery, Preschool and Elementary children’s programming is available during all Contemporary services. Click here for our addresses and directions.

How do I communicate with the staff?

You can contact the staff by calling the church office at (719) 599-0476 or through e-mail. Specific staff can be contacted via email through the form on this page. The church office is open Monday-Thursday from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.

How do I find out what is happening at Academy?

Information about our activities and programs is available on our website, in our weekly service program available in our Sunday services, our monthly newsletter which you can read online, or by liking us on Facebook. We also have an online Calendar of events on this website. Feel free to visit our website often as we continually update it. You can also visit our Connection Center, located beside our Worship Center, each Sunday morning where a friendly member of our First Encounters team will be ready to assist you.

How can I get involved with Academy?

Getting involved will help you feel connected. A great place to start is to attend worship service on a regular basis. Next, get plugged into one of our Connect Groups. Adult Bible Fellowships (ABF’s) meet on Sundays at 8:00, 9:30 or 11:00 a.m.  All are interactive Bible studies which help us grow spiritually. We also have Life Groups that meet for study and fellowship at various times throughout the week. Visit this page for more information. Finally, serve in a ministry. To receive more information about service opportunities at ACC, please contact us using this page.

How do I become a member?

Membership is discussed in detail during one of our Membership classes.  Classes are held about once every other month.  We want all people interested in joining Academy to be well informed on what we believe and value. This class is a must for membership. Please click this link for information regarding our next Membership Class.  We suggest that if you are new to ACC or not ready for membership, you attend our Getting to Know ACC class first.

What ministries are available?

Check out our Northside Ministries and Westside Ministries pages; they will give you a good overview of some of our current ministries.  You can contact the church office at contact@academychristian.org or talk to the ministry team leader about positions available in that ministry.

Does Academy Christian Church support missions?

We are committed to sending out and supporting workers in many regions around the globe. Opportunities are available for everyone to pray for, encourage and support our church family in the mission field. This is why we are committed to giving 15% of our annual giving to missions. Please see the Missions pages under the Ministries tab on the specific campus site to see missions supported.

Does the Church have a prayer ministry?

Yes! Prayer is the core of every ministry. The church gets it direction from the Word and the Holy Spirit as we commune with God in prayer. We have an e-mail prayer group that prays for the weekly requests. If you have a prayer request, please fill out our Welcome Card during service on Sunday with your prayer request.
